Christos Tsiolkas and Kris Mrksa discuss novel adaptations and screenwriting

Church of All Nations, 180 Palmerston Street, Carlton

Join us as Readings’ Jemima Bucknell facilitates a conversation between long-time friends, author Christos Tsiolkas and screenwriter Kris Mrksa, to discuss the art of screenwriting, the differences between visual and literary forms, and the process of transforming books into film or television.

Mrksa has forged a successful 15-year career as a screenwriter, garnering two AFI awards and working on shows such as the TV adaptation of Tsiolkas’s novel The Slap, Glitch, Underbelly and a new BBC-commissioned series, Requiem. Tsiolkas’s award-winning novels Loaded and Dead Europe have been adapted for film, while The Slap (winner of best novel in the Commonwealth Writers Prize) has been made into both Australian and US television miniseries.

Tickets are $15 per person and all proceeds will be donated to The Readings Foundation. Please book here.
