Pivot Point by Kasie West

As a Searcher living in a hidden world where everyone has mind powers, Addie Coleman, when faced with a choice, has always been able to see both outcomes. This has consistently prevented disaster in her life.

When her parents decide to split up, Addie is given the decision of which parent she wants to live with: her dad, who is leaving the mystical compound and taking on the unknown, or her mum, who is staying in the familiar life Addie has always known. To make the right decision she has to use her powers to see how each future would pan out.

As Addie discovers, both futures are very different but when the paths intertwine she gets caught in a dangerous game. With positive and negative outcomes on both sides, Addie must decide what she is willing to endure and what she can’t live with in order to make the heart-breaking decision.

I very much enjoyed this book’s plot, characters and set-up as a fresh and new sci-fi novel for teenagers. Pivot Point is a thoroughly captivating story of choice, loss and finding what is important.
