Rachmaninov: Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini/Piano Concerto No. 2, Yuja Wang

With this new recording, Yuja Wang continues to climb the heights of the classical world. These performances again show what a wonderful pianist she is developing into – and Rachmaninov, for any pianist, is always a great test of their musical abilities. Wang and Abbado move gracefully through each movement of the Rhapsody and the pleasure she derives from performing this work is at once recognisable to the listener. One never gets tired of hearing the Second Piano Concerto and Wang’s charismatic performance, combined with beautiful support from Abbado and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, will surely delight.
