With this new recording, Ottavio Dantone and Accademia Bizantina once again show that in the world of period performances this ensemble is one of the best. It continues the Haydn anniversary celebrations with a compelling reworking of his concertos for the violin and harpsichord. Beautifully recorded and performed, these works take on a new life in the hands of skilled musicians.
I have always enjoyed the works of Haydn, and I sometimes feel that his skills as a composer are overlooked in the classical world. Hopefully this new recording will change that perception.
