My Life with Thalia

John LeCompte

"My Life with Thalia" is an honest and heartfelt journey through love and loss to the very core of life itself. Memoirist and poet, John LeCompte, recounts his epic love story eloquently alternating between prose and poetry. After Thalia left this world, he began writing as a simple exercise to help process his deep grief. Three years later, on the anniversary of her memorial celebration, he is proud to present the world with this exquisite and emotional tribute to life and love. This is a story of a great love between a man and woman, a woman of exceptional character, especially demonstrated through her last forty-four years of her life as Thalia sought through prayer and meditation to improve her conscious spiritual contact. She dedicated herself to helping literally hundreds of men and women by opening doors of escape and unsealing windows for fresh air.

None of the stories or descriptions of Thalia and John are embellished. If anything, the unique nature of their love story defies overstatement, and due to the immensity of Thalia's spirit, it can never be captured with anything as common as mere words.

As time passed, the story expanded to contain our life after August 2018 when Thalia rose to new heights of heroism as she fought against the odds for her very life. Now included are the events following her passing on March 24th 2021 when she continued to supply comfort to John during periods of grief.

Praise for "My Life with Thalia"

"John, your writing absolutely amazes me. I sit, and I read this, and then in all honesty I become slightly jealous. If only every man, every person was as in touch with what it means to be in love. Maybe, just maybe, there would be no war, no hatred towards another human being, no need for women's shelters, or fences between neighbors. Thank you for continuing to share your beautiful writing, your feelings and your heart." - Mary Stubblefield

"So many nuggets of wisdom... Thank you for sharing them. [...] I have great admiration for you and your ability to combine past, present, and future." - Hap Klopp

"John moves effortlessly, with ease and grace, through prose to poetry and back again, proving the age-old adage: it is truly better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. And in fact, in the end, we find that we have not lost anything, rather we are richer indeed, by far." - Adina Lynn LeCompte

"You never know where God is going to take you... Not ever."

-(Thalia's Journal 2016)
