The story begins with D'Artagnan arrival in Paris and his involvement in three duels with Athos, Porthos, and Aramis -- the three musketeers. When D'Artagnan serves an apprenticeship before he can become a musketeer. The escapades of the four are played out against a background of court intrigue involving the powerful cardinal Richelieu. This book has also been adapted numerous times for fi lm. Among 250 books to come from this author, The Three Musketeers is the most famous. The plot of the novel moves with the historical narrative and its pace carries the reader on a joyous journey. It is replete with teasers and cliffhangers.
