A Lifetime in a Day is a book that speaks to the passing of time from birth until death. The book rings out the cycle of life-the stages we will grow through, the seasons we will experience, as well as the time of day from morning until nightfall. It captures the feelings, thoughts, and emotions of the growth stages that we all travel on this road called life. I was inspired to compile this grouping of poems, while one day sitting idle in my car, waiting for time to pass before my next appointment. As I sat, gazing out of the window, a strong wind blew and a group of colorful leaves settled in front of my car. Another second passed, another gust of wind and the landscape that once was, totally changed in front of my eyes. Immediately, I heard in my spirit, The landscape you just observed has been forever changed and will never present itself that way again. This thought brought forth the poem The Wind Blew, which captures the essence of this work. The Wind Blew When I was a child and the wind blew! Everything was so simple in my view. My friends and I stuck together like glue. When I was a child and the wind blew. When I was a child and the wind blew! The grass in the morning would be filled with dew. Water and skied were shades of blue. When I was a child and the wind blew. When I was a child and the wind blew! I’d see a rainbow in its infinite hues. I’d watch as things around me grew. When I was a child and the wind blew. When I was a child and the wind blew! Seemed I never ran out of things to do. Every day I dreamed of something new. When I was a child and the wind blew. The wind blew! And The wind blew! And, The wind blew.
