Lost on the Trail tells the story of a young girl about to enjoy a hiking day with her family in the big forest. Everything is happy and lots of fun until the Girl sees a wounded bird and decides to try and help it. While not paying attention Ariel loses herself in the rescue effort and soon finds that Mom and Dan are not close by. She is lost. Frightened and lost she wanders in the forest looking for her parents and a way to get home. She finally finds a trail again and feels relieved a bit. Soon she experiences the magic of the story when she meets, Mellow Moo, a friendly cow who leads her to safety. She meets the farmer who owns the land and he arranges her return to Mom and Dad. There is mystery, surprise, magic and a lesson in this story, but the end brings only happiness to Ariel and her family.
