Two Insect Pieces
Written for, and dedicated to, Sylvia Spencer, Two Insect Pieces comprise of ‘The Grasshopper’ and ‘The Wasp’ and last 5 minutes in total. The Two Insect Pieces were composed in the Spring of 1935 but only ‘The Grasshopper’ movement was performed at the Leith Hill Musical Festival in May 1935 by Sylvia Spencer and Millicent Silver. The first performance of both movements took place in 1979 at a memorial concert to Sylvia Spencer with Janet Craxton on Oboe and Margot Wright on piano.
