July 1575: Queen Elizabeth and her court are staying at Kenilworth Castle, home of the Earl of Leicester, during the summer months.
Leicester knows this is his last attempt to marry the Queen and he’s organised a lavish week of musical entertainments, dancing and firework displays. Yet despite his attachment to Elizabeth and his driving ambition to be her King, he is unable to resist the seductive wiles of Lettice, Countess of Essex.
