Dr. Fegg’s Encyclopaedia of All World Knowledge

Terry Jones,Michael Palin

Dr Fegg’s comic masterwork has become a collector’s item since it went out of print in the 1980’s. Now Methuen, original publishers of Dr. Fegg’s Encylopeadia, have reprinted this subversive and very funny book by Terry Jones and Michael Palin in the first new edition since 1984.
Michael Palin writes:
Terry and I were always rather fond of this so-called educational work written and supervised by someone totally unsuitable. Dr. Fegg stands as a beacon of political incorrectness in an earnest liberal world. The Encyclopeadia (sic) allowed Terry and myself to further indulge our Python brand of humour, but in a book, rather than on television.
On my stage tour last year I read extracts from Dr.Fegg and they were invariably highlights of the evening, with many people afterwards enquiring after the book, and expressing disappointment that it was no longer available. This year, after thirty years, the book is now being offered to booksellers again. The timing couldn’t be better. On September 24th I shall be setting out on another tour
The Thirty Years Tour
which will cover seventeen venues across England and Ireland. Dr Fegg will be an essential element of the show, and I anticipate a lot of interest in the Encylopeadia. It’s very silly, lavishly illustrated by wonderful cartoonists like Martin Honeysett and Terry and I are very excited that this odd and rather wonderful antidote to education is once again available for anyone with a sense of humour.
