French-Israeli singer-songwriter Yael Naim is all the best kinds of hyphens. With a healthy amount of Camille-type whimsy and an international touch, She Was a Boy will transport you immediately to the quirky, enchanting France you find in movies.
This CD has amazing musical range: sometimes a gentle guitar-plinking country that quietly builds things up, like in ‘Never Change’, while the flute in ‘My Dreams’ is as whimsical as its name, and the sensual ‘Man of Another Woman’ borrows from her Israeli heritage. Soon to be heard at art galleries and cafes all over the world.
