Mozart Piano Concertos Nos 17 & 22
Bezuidenhout Kristian Mullejans Petra
Mozart places melody at the very heart of his concertos, most of which he composed for himself to perform. Introverted at the start, Piano Concerto No 17 subsequently burst into birdsong and boasts a finale worthy of an opera buffa. Imbued with majesty, Piano Concerto No 22 (contemporary with his opera The Marriage of Figaro), takes on a tinge of bitterness in the work’s slow movement, before returning to more joyful melodic ground.
Piano Concerto No 17 in G major K453, Rondo in A major, Piano Concerto No 22 K482 in E-flat major
