Singer/songwriter Josh Rouse is back and he’s got an appropriately named band to boot. Living on the island of Valencia and in Spain for the past five years brought out the breezy, globe-trotting sound of Latin music (and more) on his last project El Turista. But now, Rouse and his backing duo The Long Vacations turn to the acoustic folk/pop that launched Rouse’s career a decade ago.
Josh Rouse’s new album, his ninth overall, with the simple title, Josh Rouse and the Long Vacations, alludes to both his history and what is to come. Joining him for this excursion is tow native Spaniards Cayo Bellvessr and Xema Fuertes, who accent these songs in an exquisite manner unlike any other previous releases.

Interesting title for Josh Rouse’s new record; it does have a light restful feel to it. Nebraskan born Rouse has lived in many parts of the US and has recently relocated to Spain with his new wife and musical partner Paz Suay. Long Vacations is their third collaboration. Rouse continues to work with producer Brad Jones who give his work a pleasant tonal sound. Rouse has always been a poetic songwriter – this new record blends his earlier Americana sound with his more recent Latin-tinged works, with beautiful results.
