In Beethoven: The Cello Sonatas, Li-Wei Qin navigates the\ndemanding repertoire with marvellous technique and displays a\nsensitive tone that defines his charisma. He becomes the first\nChinese cellist to record the complete sonatas under a major label\nsince Yo-Yo Ma. Born in Shanghai in 1976, Li-Wei Qin moved to\nAustralia when he was 13, and received the Young Australian of the\nYear award in 2002. He performed with various Australian symphony\norchestras and the Australian Chamber Orchestra. He has become one\nof world’s most sought-after cellists. Li-Wei is currently the Head\nof Cello Studies at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music as well\nas guest professor at the Shanghai Conservatory and the Central\nConservatory of Music in Beijing. This collaboration with Universal\nMusic represents a milestone in Li-Wei’s musical career.
