Another meditation for me- Ive been ECMed again! A new talent,\nGreek pianist Vassilis Tsabropoulos, very simply performs\ninspirations based on Byzantine Greek music and hymns. These are\nnot transcriptions- rather a highly personal journey -on his piano-\nthrough his own holy traditions and especially, revisiting Easter\nthemes. His keyboard work is at one time liquid and sensual,\nanother time flowing melody and rhythm that repeats as it ascends.\nVery Byzantine! And from beginning to end, Tsabropoulus wraps us in\nhis fabric, a mood thats sacred yet innovative. Ive always admitted\nmy deep bias for these ECM creators who write for the spaces in\nbetween- so heres another choice for you. Its audible spirit- and\nAkroasis is a new dedication.
