300 Years Of Music
Wunder Ingolf
Ingolf Wunder returns with a unique follow-up, 300, three\ncenturies of piano styles – from Scarlatti to Morricone.
\n
Ingolf Wunder adores fun, melodic pieces that demand exceptional\nflair and virtuosity – 300 will attract all piano fans. He links\npieces by Liszt, Rachmaninov, and Scriabin (among others) to\nHorowitz’s own landmark homage, Danse excentrique and extends the\nlineage to late 20th-century pieces such as his own arrangement of\nhits like John Williams’s \“Star Wars (theme)\” – and Morricone’s\n\“Playing Love\” from the film, The Legend of 1900.
\n
The perfect follow-up to Chopin by presenting another facet of\nthis exceptional pianist, who was the audience favourite at the\n2010 Chopin Competition – his Deutsche Grammophon debut Chopin\nalbum was acclaimed worldwide: \“… an extremely elegant and\npolished affair\” (Los Angeles Times)

The first thing I thought when I saw the repertoire on this recording was that it’s really quite weird. This is a seriously odd selection of repertoire, there is no doubting that Wunder is a very good pianist yet I was very hesitant to think that this might work. Yet strangely it does. Youve got a Scarlatti Sonata on one hand, famous works like the Flight of the Bumblebee followed up by a Morricone piece and the Star Wars theme. The warmth of the Deutsche Grammophon sound brings Wunder into the living room and makes it sound like he’s performing for you. Altogether a highly enjoyable recording that is terrific for those piano lovers out there.
