Winners of the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards 2016

The winners of the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards have been announced.

The winner of the fiction prize is The World Without Us by Mireille Juchau.

The winner of the non-fiction prize is Something for the Pain by Gerald Murnane.

The winner of the young adult fiction prize is Welcome to Orphancorp by Marlee Jane Ward.

The winner of the poetry prize is Crankhandle by Alan Loney.

The winner of the drama prize is Broken by Mary Anne Butler.

The winner of the People’s Choice award is our very own St Kilda staff member Miles Allison with Fever of Animals.

And finally, the winner of the overall Victorian Prize for Literature is Mary Anne Butler for Broken.

Congratulations to all the winning authors (and their publishers!).

The Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards also include two further Awards: the Unpublished Manuscript Award, which is presented as part of the Emerging Writers’ Festival in June, and the biennial Award for Indigenous Writing, which will be announced in September 2016. Find out more here.
