Changes to Acland Street and our St Kilda shop

There are some changes happening at Acland Street as part of a new project to upgrade the street. Here is some information about what these changes are, and how they will affect Readings St Kilda.

What are the upcoming changes to Acland Street?

As part of the Acland Street Upgrade project, a section of Acland Street, between Belford Street and Barkly Street, will be permanently closed to cars and transformed into a pedestrian friendly streetscape. A new upgraded tram terminus will also be built. Construction on the project is expected to take place from August until late 2016.

How will this affect Readings St Kilda?

From 8 to 18 August 2016, major works will be taking place directly outside of the Readings St Kilda bookshop. Readings St Kilda will still remain operational, but our opening hours will change during this time. Trams will not be running down Acland Street at this time, and will terminate at the Luna Park stop. Street parking on Acland Street will be limited. The Shakespeare Grove car park will have free parking available for the duration of the construction period, however the two hour time restrictions for these car parks will remain. After August, construction will still be taking place on Acland Street for several months, but it should no longer affect access to the Readings St Kilda shop.

What are your opening hours during this time?

From 8 to 18 August 2016, the Readings St Kilda opening hours will be 10am to 6pm on Monday through to Sunday. The shop won’t be open at night, and the events program will be temporarily suspended. After August, the shop will go back to its regular trading hours and events will resume.

If you have further questions about these changes, please contact Readings St Kilda.
