Betty Churcher on Australian Notebooks

Readings Hawthorn, Woiwurrung Country, 687 Glenferrie Rd, Hawthorn, Victoria, 3122

Betty Churcher AO is one of Australia’s most loved cultural commentators. A Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities, she was director of the Art Gallery of Western Australia and of the National Gallery of Australia from 1990 to 1997. Earlier in her life she was a painter and won a scholarship to Europe, where she became an associate graduate of the Royal College of Art, London.

In her latest book, Australian Notebooks, Betty revisits some of the artworks she most cherishes. This is an extraordinary opportunity to hear Betty talk about her most loved art, her life and why the two are intertwined.
