What’s the Matter, Aunty May? by Peter Friend and Andrew Joyner

If you enjoy rhyming text and a bit of slapstick this book is a ripper.

A young boy, who looks as if butter wouldn’t melt in his mouth, goes to visit his Aunty May and is keen to ‘help’. Aunty May has a rather nice place, full of antiques and books, and a pet budgie. Nothing is safe, not even the huge cream cake! Nothing.

And the boy asks as he leaves:

‘Would it perhaps help heal your sorrow
To know that I’ll be back tomorrow?‘

A good picture book to read aloud or for early readers to enjoy for themselves.
