Jeanne d'Arc, Jordi Savall
Joan of Arc is one of the most romanticised saints in popular culture. Her life and death was so dramatic that she continues to inspire artists today. Jordi Savall originally wrote the soundtrack for Jacques Rivette’s movie “Jeanne la Pucelle” and inspired by that vision, dedicates his new album to the ‘mother figure’ of French independence. It is full of compositions from Joan of Arc’s era, infused with the Hesperion XXI attention to detail and musicality. While each track seems somewhat imbued with sadness, this album will be a wonderful addition to any collection.
