Review: Fuzzy Feelings: When You Have Big Feelings, Everything Can Be a Bit Fuzzy by Michelle Mackintosh & Cat Rabbit (illus.) — Readings Books

In this sweet book, Little Cat’s feelings appear as cute, plush, felt shapes that follow her around and pop up at various times throughout the day. It’s a book with simple, gentle text that introduces strategies to avoid being overwhelmed. Portraying feelings as critters allows Calm and Anxious to meet and become friends. Disappointed and Happy are able to dance together at a rainy picnic. In a world of AI-generated horrors, it’s a joy to look at Cat Rabbit’s 3D-handcrafted illustrations, which are made and photographed with such care.

Her book The Library of Bears was one of our staff-selected favourite picture books of 2025 and crafters of all ages have been loving Trinkets, too. Older readers may feel a nostalgic pull when looking at this book, and everyone will enjoy noticing the wonderful details. There’s something universally appealing about the lovely, fluffy, felted and fun textures created with fabrics. Just perfect for a book called Fuzzy Feelings! For ages 2+.
