When The Flood Comes: The Audreys

The Audreys have come a long way in just a few short years. Their debut album Between Last Night And Us was a huge sleeper – old fashioned – word-of-mouth style hit, ARIA award winner, a favourite album of mine the year it was released (2006) and is very nearly a gold album. All rather good for an act who is based in Adelaide and had no profile and were performing music not generally accepted by a wide audience in this country.

On their second album they have very wisely kept Shane O'Mara on as producer. It is another beautiful-sounding album, a little more adventurous and a little less country in style, but just as likely to win over lots of fans. They have also wisely, I believe, written all the songs themselves. If I could offer one criticism – they were doing just a few too many cover versions in the live shows.
