The Brooklyn-based husband-wife team of Reverend Vito and Monique Auto enlisted acclaimed musical figure Sufjan Stevens as their producer to make an album that sounds a lot like … a Sufjan Stevens album. That being said, many people (like yours truly) are Sufjan Stevens fans and this offering full of gospel-tinged folk tunes that vary from the rich orchestration of Sold! To the Nice Rich Man (hello … Sufjan) to the bleak Christian austerity of Deep Were His Wounds, and Red has many qualities that make this album an enjoyable listening experience.
