The Cursed Ones by Nancy Holder

The Cursed Ones: only one word correctly sums up this book – Wow. End of the world/ dystopian? Check. Great romance? Check. Believable and wonderfully-flawed characters? Check. Utterly engrossing? Check. Hold-your-breath action scenes? Check. What more could you want from a book? It’s like the hunger games but with vampires. And werewolves. And witches. Seriously, if you like action books where the plot is constantly moving, or paranormal books with suspense and romance, or even end of the world as we know it horror, PICK UP THIS BOOK!

The heroine (Jenn) is believable enough to be real and brave enough that you want to be her. The book itself is told through multiple points of view from all the main characters, but mostly from Jenn. The story begins in Spain, then takes you to California then to New Orleans and leaves you wanting more. This book is definitely not a romanticised retelling of vampires and if you’re sick to death of Twilight, this book is perfect. I give it 9½ out of 10!
