A scintillating 1991 trio Bach session Loussier issued independantly and promptly withdrew finally sees a proper release, and it may be the liveliest and the wittiest of his many Bach recordings. An even greater find is the disc of Loussier’s original orchestral compositions. There’s a passionate ‘Concerto for Violin and Percussion’ with movements inspired by Prague, Paris, Buenos Aires and Tokyo; the dramatic, baroque, ‘Tableaux Venetiens’; and a gorgeous trumpet concerto. Two hours of bliss.
