Machines of Love and Grace by Martha Tilston

British folk singer Martha Tilston first came to my attention with the release of 2007’s Of Milkmaids & Architects, about the same time that I began listening to The Unthanks, another band who brilliantly meld the traditional and modern folk sounds. Tilston’s rich and emotive voice comes from a strong creative heritage (her father is folk legend Steve Tilston and her mother, Naomi, is an artist).

Machines of Love and Grace explores her desires, her philosophies on life and her political beliefs, making for a richly rewarding listen.
