Ok, so it doesn’t matter what anyone else says, this is pure pop. Disco, to be precise. The unique vocal style of Antony Hegarty from Antony and the Johnsons is so instantly recognisable, it automatically adds an aura of cool to whatever project he graces. This debut album from New Yorker Andrew Butler is camp; it’s fun and unashamedly made for dancing. Standout track is the opener Time Will, certainly not an indication of the album direction but glorious all the same. International critics have been gushing over this one, calling it the most original American dance album in a long time.
