The Unthanks recorded this second instalment of the Diversions series with the Brighouse & Rastrick Band, a collaboration that reminds me of the way Alain Toussaint’s distinctive brass arrangements put such a beautiful musical dressing on so many great 70s tunes.

This album was recorded live, giving an extra punch, and The Unthanks’ mix of traditional and original material works well in this setting.
