Again! by Emily Gravett

Anyone who has read any of Emily Gravett’s picture books (Meerkat Mail, The Rabbit Problem) will know that they’re not just a simple story that you read from cover to cover and then put down again. They are designed to be picked up and read with gusto again, and again, and again.

This is certainly the case with her latest, Again!.

In this familiar story, a little dragon has a favourite story he’d like to read before bed. The only problem is that he’s not just satisfied with one telling of the tale. He wants it to be read over and over again. There’s a lot of humour that parents will be able to relate to in this cheeky tale, as the big dragon changes up the words of the book and gets sleepier and sleepier, while the little dragon gets angrier and angrier.

And while I don’t like spoiling the ends of books, the end of this one has already been spoiled – literally! If you pick up a copy of Again!, the first thing you’ll notice is a dragon peeking through a big, burned hole in the back cover.

A very funny picture book for three and ups, that I’m sure will be read… well, lots of times.
