On their fifth release onECM New Series, and theirfirst in four years, Oslo’sTrio Mediaeval have chosena work from the thirteenth century, a reconstruction of a votive Mass tothe Virgin Mary, based on manuscripts andfragments originating in an English BenedictineAbbey. The original manuscripts weremissing a Credo and a Benedicamus Domino,so the trio invited English composer GavinBryars to compose the appropriate settings,which sit very well with the mediaevaloriginals. This is a stunningly beautifulperformance from this brilliant trio.
