A Beautiful Place To Die: Malla Nunn

In South Africa in 1952, an Afrikaner Police Captain is murdered in the town of Jacob’s Rest. Detective Emmanuelle Cooper is called to investigate, and finds himself in a gritty world of violence, crime, and racial segregation laws that are dividing the community. And he is no more immune to the violence of the world in which he is living than everyone else is, as he discovers when he is himself attacked and beaten. But he pursues his investigation, plagued all the while by demons from his own past, and aware that he is searching for justice in a world where there is little justice to be had.
