all his fellow soldiers slain -

suspicion swirls around him. He’s damaged in body and soul, yet he rides a fine horse and speaks well of his foes. What has he witnessed? Where does his true allegiance lie? How will life unfold for his little sister, his closest friend, his betrothed, his community, and even the enemy Lord who maimed him?

With extraordinary insight and literary skill, Hinwood weaves their stories to create a tale of romance, adventure and everyday life in croft and manor house and castle. Her style is unique. Her characters will hijack your heart.

‘I can’t tell you how much I loved this novel. I cried through the whole of the last chapter from the sheer beauty of these characters and their world.’ Melina Marchetta

Review

Bloodflower is an unusual yet enchanting book. Bloodflower is set in a country liking to China or Korea just a couple of months after a great war between the people of the north and the people of the south.

The book starts with the arrival of Cam a son of a farming family the Attlings. Cam has lost an arm in the last battle of the war at the keep of Dorn-lannet. Suspicion is aroused when Cam is the only man of the village to return alive and Cam’s reluctance to tell his fellow villages what has happened to their men only seems to deepen their distrust. The events of the war follow Cam and those close to him at every turn.

Christine Hinwood is a gifted storyteller whose skill draws you in at every moment and will always have you wanting more. I suggest this book for people from the age of 15 and up for it contains some mature themes. A great read.
