Tides is Monique diMattina’s third solo piano album, a stunning collection of ten crystalline miniatures. During 2020 lockdown, Monique relished flying to other worlds by playing sheet music at home, keeping company with Bach, Clara Schumann, Jarrett… In a world sans gigs, she notated her new compositions to connect with home pianists in the same way. The result is a set of artfully sculpted tone poems, a departure from previous albums that were more improvised in nature.
