Celebrating the pioneering women of American Hip-Hop and Rap Culture and a personal journal in one book! Each section provides 2 -3 sentences of introduction to a music industry female icon, many who remain obscured by history. We’ve profiled some of the extraordinary female rappers whose efforts ensured widening opportunities and equality. Each section begins with a woman of importance, followed by 4 pages for notes and sketching. Women’s stories are shared from generation to generation. This journal allows you to do the same. Hip-Hop women of influence such as Queen Latifah, Salt ‘N Pepa, MC Lyte, Yo-Yo, Roxanne Shante, Lauryn Hill, Trina, Foxy Brown, The Sequence, Amil, Lil’ Kim, Eve, Oaktown357, Erykah Badu, TLC, Vita, Bahamadia, Remy Ma, Lady of Rage, M.I.A., Missy Elliott. Many of these women you will know, some you may not. At a time when the industry was new, women etched out an identity of strength, talent and grit, by telling the stories that are relevant to women, pushing back against stereotypes and gender biased narratives. Plus, the music is awesome!
