LA Phil: Centenary Edition (Box Set 32 CDs/3 DVDs)
LA Philharmonic
Celebrating a legendary label-orchestra partnership and 100 years of musical excellence, Deutsche Grammophon marks the centenary of the LA Philharmonic with a limited edition 32CD+3DVD set assembled with input from Music & Artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel.
Starting with Otto Klemperer and featuring every music director since (plus guest conductors LB and Stravinsky), the set includes 2 CDs of previously unreleased historic recordings and archival surprises, plus 3 live DVD performances.
The editorial includes a 120-page booklet with essays on the LA Phil’s remarkable first century and the orchestra’s ability to embrace what Gustavo Dudamel calls a ‘tradition of the new’.
Includes Giulini’s complete recording of Verdi’s Falstaff (Bruson, Nucci, Ricciarelli, Valentini-Terrani, Hendricks et al.), and operatic recitals by Plácido Domingo and Juan Diego Flórez.
