If Bob Dylan can win the Nobel Prize for Literature then Gerald Murnane can release a record. The author best known for not being known has, briefly, stopped tending bar to showcase his talents as a vocalist, performing renditions of his own work as well as the work of Thomas Hardy, Hungarian poet Dezső Kosztolányi, DEVO and Killdozer, with accompaniment in a variety of contemporary musical styles.

The centrepiece of the album is a completely new work - a 1,600-word palindrome written by Murnane over the course of six months in 2006. Murnane recites the palindrome over a constantly shifting sixteen-minute minimalist musical score composed entirely from the letters of his own name, translated into musical notes by simple substitution code.Words in Order is available on 180g audiophile vinyl, with a gatefold sleeve reproducing the original pages of the palindrome, in a limited, signed edition of 300 with included voucher for free MP3/FLAC download.“I don’t know what to say.
