Joe Henry

New album by Grammy winning artist and producer Joe Henry!

Joe Henry is one of those artists you are rarely able to find nowadays. He is passionate about his work, unbelievably talented in multiple ways and a grand singersongwriter, not to forget an in-demand Grammy award winning producer. The prolific singer has been reshaping the definition of American folk music.

Always the critic’s darling and adored by his fans for his wise and thoughtful lyrics and music, Joe Henry always manages to find the right words and right tunes. Not only is he a successful musician, he also produced albums for artists ranging from Solomon Burke, Hugh Laurie, Aimee Mann, Rodney Crowell and Elvis Costello. Just to name a few. For Solomon Burke’s 2006 album “Don’t Give Up On Me” he eventually won a Grammy award.

In addition, he wrote songs for Madonna like “Don’t Tell Me” for her 2000 album “Music” (Henry is married to Madonna’s sister) and composed music for soundtracks, e.g. for Judd Apatow’s movie “Knocked Up”.

The last couple of years have been a busy period for Henry who produced songs for Bonnie Raitt‘s Grammy-winning 2012 album “Slipstream” (including covers of two of his own), and produced Billy Bragg‘s acclaimed 2013 album “Tooth & Nail”.

Henry also produced albums for Rodney Crowell and Mary Karr, Natalie Duncan, Hugh Laurie and Over the Rhine. In 2013 Henry released “Furious Cool”, his much-praised book about Richard Pryor‘s life and work, co-written with his brother, David Henry. In 2016, Joe Henry and Billy Bragg recorded the critically acclaimed “Shine A Light” while winding along miles and miles of track rails over four days.
