Review

I was very moved by this poignant and beautiful book. The pages are haunted by a longing so intense that you feel privileged to be included as you read.
A gentle, sad creature has lost his brother and as he searches in places that bring to mind an Escher painting, his eventual outlook about his loss changes from despair to an understanding of what his brother and he shared. This is an elegy to a lost sibling and as an adult your belief is that he’s died but children will take their own meaning from it. The production of this story was a family affair and the overwhelming feeling is that there has been a profound loss for the Huxleys and that Dee Huxley, who is a well known children’s author and illustrator, has put her heart and soul into the pictures. A tender exploration of loss for 4 years and up.
