Mango & Bambang: The Not-a-Pig (Book One)

Clara Vulliamy, Polly Faber

A charming collection of four beautifully illustrated stories about the unlikely friendship between Mango, a little girl, and Bambang, a Malaysian tapir. Mango Allsorts is good at all sorts of things, not just karate and chess. Bambang is most definitely not-a-pig and is now lost in a very busy city. When the two unexpectedly meet, a friendship begins, filled with adventures, and of course, plenty of banana pancakes. The Not-a-Pig is Book One in a brilliant series from Polly Faber and Clara Vulliamy.

Review

Mango & Bambang: The Not-a-Pig is the most delightful celebration of an unlikely but beautiful relationship: the friendship between Mango Allsorts, a busy little urbanite, and Bambang, a lost tapir and definitely NOT a pig!

Mango is an irrepressible girl with a wonderful optimism and a very hectic schedule that includes karate, diving, playing chess and the clarinet. Bambang is a stranger in a big city – everything is large and scary, confusing and intimidating. But together they’re a remarkable duo, bringing a little magic and adventure into each other’s life.

Young readers will love the beautiful illustrations on every page and I’m sure our irresistible protagonists will charm children and adults alike. And what’s most exciting is this book of four stories is the first volume in a series! Highly recommended for independent readers aged 7 and up and perfect for sharing with the family.
