Youth, AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Diseases
Susan Moore,Doreen Rosenthal,Anne Mitchell
HIV/AIDS is a major life-threatening disease. It has caused a resurgence of concern about other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and their high rates among young people. This age group is increasingly sexually active, and at an increasingly early age. This volume reviews the current literature, research, and educational and health policy concerning young people, and examines how their sexual behaviour has changed as a result of the threat of AIDS. It looks at young people’s knowledge and attitudes about their own sexual health, as well as the usefulness of models for predicting those at risk. Drawing on insights from their own research in the field, the authors also use the voices of young people to illustrate their concerns.
