The lead singer of NOUVELLE VAGUE, who seduced millions with her breathy vocals, returns with a second album of personal pop and electro-acoustic delights called ‘Bye Bye Manchester’. Since the release of her debut album ‘My Name’, Melanie’s career has taken her from the Olympia in Paris to the Hollywood Bowl and several tours around Europe and Australia. Melanie alternates between singing in French and English, collaborating with ED HARCOURT on the new track; “Black Widow” and working alongside Albin de la Simone- the arranger for Vanessa Paradis. Two years after the release of her acclaimed debut solo album, ‘My Name’, Melanie set out on a musical pilgrimage to Manchester.

Armed only with a small Casio synth yellowed from age (a PT-30 which her father gave her when she was six), an auto-harp and a ukulele, she drew on the enduring pop legacy of the UK city to write a collection of original songs. Combining all her musical experiences, some unmistakable Manchester inspiration and her own unique gift for songwriting has produced an edgier, more passionate second album that’s a welcome, natural progression.
