Review

A friend who lives in London started telling me about Laura Marling a couple of months ago. I didn’t seek her out, until speaking to this friend recently, when she insisted I track it down. Knowing my tastes in FSS (female singer/songwriters), I checked with the local distributor, who forwarded a sample and informed me of its imminent local release. An un-hyped release from a UK female is pretty rare at the moment, but it may just give Marling the chance to find her feet and an audience before expectation overwhelms. If you like the acoustic pop-folk of Beth Orton, or Belle & Sebastian (or our own Missy H.), I would definitely recommend seeking this out.
