Sounds Of Our City
Russack Emma
Emma Russack’s debut album, Sounds of Our City displays an overarching theme of change and renewal - borne from Emma’s first experiences living in Melbourne following a year of travelling through South America. With its combination of low-fidelity folk and blues and hushed, intimate balladry, Sounds of Our City is a unified collection of Emma’s most accomplished songwriting to date. The self-produced album was recorded at Melbourne’s Headgap studio over four days, and mixed by Jake Phillips (Kid Sam).
Hailing from Narooma, NSW, Emma first appeared as Lola Flash with her single ‘Psycho’ released on 2009’s compilation Spunk Singles Club. Her follow-up EP Peasants was released in January 2010. Stripped of Peasants’ jazz influence, Sounds of Our City is a bold, honest and elegant work, more intimate in its scope.

Dave Clarke, Readings Carlton
Attention, we have a new talent worth checking out. Emma Russack is a Melbourne-based, NSW south coast raised singer-songwriter whose debut album is a thing of dark beauty. Reminiscent of Mia Dyson & The Cowboy Junkies, her songs have an ethereal bluesy feel. Her voice is deep & rich, the recording stripped back, which brings an intimacy to the album.
Dave Clarke is from Readings Carlton
