Vieux Farka Toure (Mali) and Idan Raichel (Israel), both virtuosic superstars from very different backgrounds, join together to create a masterwork of collaboration and improvisation. After a chance meeting in an airport the two forged a deep friendship that led to an impromptu get together at a small studio in Tel Aviv. The resulting session - acoustic, spontaneous, improvised, and stunningly beautiful - could only be described as magic, and The Collective was born. Idan and Vieux have subsequently captured an inspired moment that will bring to mind classic albums like Talking Timbuktu [Ali Farka Tour / Ry Cooder], The K ln Concert [Keith Jarrett] or Vincent Segal & Ballake Sissoko’s acclaimed Chamber Music.
