Five years is a long time to wait before releasing a second album – have they ‘lost it’; are they going to be a one album band? Thankfully, no. The Gotan Project’s unique blending of electronica and tango that spawned a glut of imitators remains the best around. Subtle and sultry, Lunatico is a sophisticated release - a further developing of an original sound, experimenting with Spanish rap and the jangling guitar of Calexico, whilst retaining the seductive vocals of Cristina Vilallonga. Excellent.
