This is the companion soundtrack to the Lian Lunsen film and features live performances taken from two performances of the Leonard Cohen tribute show Came So Far For Beauty – An Evening of Leonard Cohen Songs. One of these shows was recorded at the Sydney Opera House last year with an amazing lineup of highly regarded musicians, including a couple of Wainwright siblings, the McGarrigle sisters, Nick Cave, Antony, Teddy Thompson, Beth Orton…and the list goes on. Everyone provides their own powerful interpretations of classic Cohen songs – there’s an ominous rendition of ‘I’m Your Man’ by Nick Cave; ‘Tower Of Song’ features twice, book-ending the CD; Martha Wainwright’s voice soars on the opening track and then to close; and Leonard Cohen and U2 perform together. From reports of those who were lucky enough to attend the Sydney show, this was a truly special evening.
