Sumiglia

Yannatou Savina

Savina Yannatou made her ECM debut with the live album Terra\nNostra, which alerted the world’s press to the work of this\nexceptional Greek singer and her maverick band of free-thinking\nmusicians, Primavera en Salonico. They play the traditional musics\nof the world in a spirited and liberated manner, and with a wide\nperspective that is far from “traditional”.

\n

Now *Sumiglia*, Yannatou’s first ECM studio album and her first\ncreative collaboration with producer Manfred Eicher, takes the\nmusic to another level. Pooling songs from Greece, Corsica, Italy,\nSicily, Galicia, Palestine, Albania, Bulgaria, Armenia, Moldavia\nand the Ukraine, “Sumiglia” both celebrates the differences between\nthe traditions and the common ground they share.
