"Black Girl Ugly: The Art of Approach and Engagement" is about self-discovery, building confidence, and effectively approaching and engaging with women in today's dating world. Walter Robinson shares his personal journey of getting out of a long-term marriage at 46 years old, and with being a successful, established Black man, having no success at pursuing women in the dating pool. He illustrates how he eventually overcame a self-perceived "ugliness" (specifically with Black women due to their repeated rejections), explaining how he went from that place to developing the confidence and skills set to connect with any women, but especially Black women. The core point of this book is that by understanding and addressing one's inner insecurities, practicing specific communication techniques, and adopting a positive mindset, anyone can improve their ability to approach, engage, and find meaningful relationships.
